For everyone

Shortcuts, plans, terminology, and the answers to the questions people ask most often.

Keyboard shortcuts

Ctrl appears as on macOS. A few are desktop-only, as noted.

Shortcut Action
Ctrl + Shift + / Show the shortcut list
F2 Move keyboard focus to the control bar (desktop only)
Ctrl + D Toggle microphone
Ctrl + E Toggle camera
Hold V Push to talk — unmutes while held
Ctrl + Shift + E Open reactions
Ctrl + Shift + F Toggle fullscreen (desktop only)
Ctrl + Shift + H Raise or lower your hand
Ctrl + Shift + M Open or close chat
Ctrl + Shift + P Open or close the participant list
Ctrl + Shift + L Open more tools

Two things to know

Shortcuts cannot be rebound — Settings → Shortcuts shows this same list, read-only. And the interpreter overlay and the Language button have no keyboard shortcuts of their own; both are mouse and touch only today.

Account tiers and plans

Tier Can create meetings Limits
Guest / anonymous No No account at all. Joins by link or ten-letter code, and gets full use of camera, microphone, screen share, chat, captions, translation and interpreter overlays.
Standard account No Registered, but not yet granted creation rights. The Create button stays disabled until an administrator enables it.
Promo Host Yes 600-minute allowance plus per-meeting capacity caps — see Promo Host limits.
Unlimited / Premium Yes No allowance, no capacity caps. Everything else behaves identically.
Administrator Yes Exempt from the allowance and the capacity caps.

A note on “Premium”

There is no separate premium product or subscription in the system. An account is unlimited precisely when it has creation rights and is not marked as a Promo Host. “Upgrading” someone is an administrative change — nothing is purchased and no billing is involved.

A guest cannot be made a host mid-meeting — there is no account for the role to attach to. They have to log in first.

Common problems

“Captions aren't appearing, or they're nonsense”

Check two things, in this order. First, that CC is actually switched on in your control bar. Second — and this is the usual culprit — that the Spoken in language in the caption-language menu matches what people are really saying. If it is set to English and the meeting is in Spanish, recognition will be poor or silent. Your Read in language is separate and only affects you. Translation always arrives a moment after the original.

“The Language button isn't showing up”

It only appears once an interpreter has actually gone live — not merely joined. Until they tap Go Live there is nothing to display, so the button is absent by design.

“I'm an interpreter and my video froze for viewers, but everything looks fine to me”

Your browser window was almost certainly covered by another window, or lost focus, and got throttled. See before your first session — keep the window uncovered and in the foreground for your whole session.

“I lost my chroma calibration, my sign language, or my live status”

If you reloaded the page, that is expected — nothing persists across a reload. Calibrate, reselect and go live again.

“My interpreter link stopped working”

Interpreter links expire after about 12 hours. Ask the host to open Share & Interpreter Invites and generate a fresh one.

“Someone joined but can't turn on their camera or microphone”

Three possibilities, in order of likelihood:

  1. The meeting is a webinar — attendees are viewers by default. Promote them with Grant Speaker Rights.
  2. The meeting is full — past the interactive cap, extra joiners are admitted view-only and see a banner saying so.
  3. A host toggle is switched off in the moderation panel.

“I made someone a host and nothing happened”

Make host only works for signed-in participants. Anonymous guests have no account to hold the role — ask them to log in and rejoin.

“I can't create a meeting — I only see a Login button”

Creating meetings requires an account with creation rights, granted individually by an administrator. Ask whoever runs your installation.

“An amber countdown appeared saying the meeting will end”

The host's included minute allowance has run out. The meeting is not cut off — everyone gets a 20-minute grace countdown to wrap up, and the meeting ends for everyone when it reaches zero. If an administrator raises the host's allowance during the countdown, the banner disappears and the meeting continues. See what happens when a meeting outruns the allowance.

“I've run out of minutes”

Promo Host minutes are charged for the real duration of each meeting, measured while it runs — creating or keeping rooms costs nothing, and neither does a meeting that never happened. Once the allowance is spent you cannot start new meetings; use the Unlock Unlimited Usage form on your home page to request more. See Promo Host limits.

“I popped the meeting into picture-in-picture and the interpreter disappeared”

A known limitation — the interpreter overlay is not shown in the pop-out window. Keep the meeting in its normal tab if you need the interpreter.

“I can't upload a custom background image”

Turned off on this installation entirely. Only the built-in presets and blur are available.

“I don't see a Record or Transcript option”

Recording is switched off here, and both controls are administrator-only in any case. Live captions are unrelated and are available.

“The site doesn't load at all”

The server is not left running around the clock. Contact your administrator.

“The browser warns that the connection isn't secure”

Do not click through it. Tell your administrator — if it appears just after the server was switched on, the certificate may not have loaded correctly at start-up, which they can confirm and fix in one command.

“I'm on a corporate network and I drop out to the waiting screen”

Some corporate firewalls block the media connections a video call needs. Open https://acceasy.u-i-x.com/connection-test.html, wait about twenty seconds, and it will report green, amber or red plus a copyable summary. Send that summary to your IT team — there is a one-page network requirements document they can work from.

Glossary

Room
A meeting space with a permanent link. Created once, reusable forever, no expiry.
Host / Owner
Whoever created the room. Full control: moderation, access level, interpreter links.
Administrator
Someone given the same in-meeting powers as the host, short of having created the room.
Guest
Anyone joining by link with no account. Most attendees — and most interpreters — are guests.
Access level
Open, Open to trusted people, or Restricted. Decides who may enter without approval.
Lobby / waiting room
The holding area for people trying to enter a Restricted room before a host approves them.
Interpreter link
A private, per-interpreter link — different from the room link — granting entry as a sign-language interpreter. Expires after about 12 hours.
Chroma key
Removing an interpreter's backdrop, typically green or blue, so only they appear over the meeting.
Go live
The moment an interpreter, previously visible only to themselves, becomes visible to everyone.
Overlay
The floating video window an interpreter appears in, as opposed to a grid tile.
Language button
The control-bar button for showing and hiding interpreter overlays.
Spotlight
A host putting one or two people on everyone's stage at once.
View-only mode
How joiners past an interactive meeting's cap are admitted — present, but with camera and microphone off.

What is switched off on this installation

Acceasy Meet can do more than is enabled at acceasy.u-i-x.com. These are deliberately off, so their absence is expected rather than a fault:

Feature Status
Live captions & real-time translation Available
Sign-language interpreter overlays Available
Meeting recording Off — and administrator-only where enabled
Transcript export Off — and administrator-only where enabled
Custom background uploads Off for everyone. Blur and 8 presets remain
Phone dial-in Not available
